All the female characters I draw are mixed race. They never have dark skin or light skin, but a mixture of both. This is because I myself am mixed race, and so many African-American people in media are deep skinned. While that isn’t necessarily a problem, for almost all my life I found myself sticking out like a sore thumb, never really knowing where to fit in.
This is very important to me.
The current comic I am working on (characters from up above) is mostly for a comic festival I will hopefully be participating in. It is very 2000’s high school comedy heavy, but I am including parts from my own high school life, more specifically my freshman year. The main character also goes through her identity crisis with race.

Happy Holidays!
